The Labour Court recommended that Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union use proposals from Workplace Relations Commission discussions as the basis for resolving a dispute over theatre porter cover at a new cardiac laboratory. The recommendation was signed on 18 January 2017. The Court recommended maintaining the current complement of 10 porters, agreeing a local procedure for porter duties and providing annual leave, sick leave and break cover for the laboratory. It also recommended discussions on cost-neutral rosters within the existing complement, with any agreement trialled for six months.
