Labour Court rejects Communications Workers’ Union subsistence claim

The Labour Court recommended that the Communications Workers’ Union’s claim for a daily subsistence payment for technicians and front-line managers at KN Network Services Ltd fail. The recommendation was signed on 1 December 2016. The union sought the payment by comparing its members with employees at a related company who received €10 a day. KN Network Services said those employees had less favourable terms in other respects, its own contracts made no provision for the payment, and it covered accommodation and meal costs for employees working away from home. The Court concluded that the claim was not well-founded and recommended that it fail.
