The Labour Court recommended reducing a Schenker Ireland Ltd worker’s written warning from 18 months to 12 months and facilitating his move to the first suitable shift vacancy he wanted. The recommendation was signed on 19 August 2016. Schenker Ireland Ltd imposed the warning after a box of silicon sheaves went missing during a client process. The union argued the worker had not been fully trained and that removing him from shift work alongside the warning was disproportionate. The company said he had received comprehensive training and the shift change provided greater supervision. The Court considered the 18-month warning excessive.
