The Labour Court recommended that Rentokil Initial re-engage with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union (SIPTU) within four weeks to try to resolve a dispute over pay increases, a €79 monthly meal allowance and a Christmas bonus of two weeks’ pay. The recommendation was signed on 22 June 2016. SIPTU said members had accepted changes to their conditions during the recession at the company’s request to protect their jobs, and sought to restore those conditions and increase pay. Rentokil Initial did not attend the hearing. The Court said the claims could be referred back for a definitive recommendation if the parties failed to resolve the dispute or the company did not follow the recommendation within four weeks.
