The Labour Court recommended that Limerick City & County Council pay a worker €1,150 in full and final settlement of a dispute involving complaints about investigating bullying and harassment and disciplinary sanctions. The decision was signed on 15 June 2016.
The worker appealed a Rights Commissioner recommendation that did not uphold his complaint that the Council had refused to investigate a bullying complaint. He also said the Council disciplined him after he raised a grievance. The Council rejected his claims.
At the hearing, both sides said they wanted to build a more constructive working relationship. The Court noted that a restructuring had changed the worker’s duties and reporting relationships, and that the new arrangements appeared to be working well. It recommended the payment and that the parties move forward.
