The Labour Court recommended a new collective agreement between Transdev Ireland Limited and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, to run until 31 December 2020. The recommendation was signed on 30 May 2016. The dispute followed the expiry of an earlier agreement and continuing industrial action. The Court recommended salary scales and a conditional €750 lead-in payment for each driver, as well as a 6.5% bonus for qualifying drivers from 2017. It also recommended restoring a 10% pay cut, the sick-pay scheme and wages for affected shifts, with the union to withdraw its Payment of Wages Act claims. The Court did not recommend conceding the company’s request to increase the maximum duty spread from 9.00 to 9.30 hours. It recommended referring unresolved non-cost issues to WRC conciliation and commissioning an independent comparison of drivers’ overall remuneration with comparable workers.
