The Labour Court upheld a recommendation that CLG Comhairle Laighean (Leinster Council of the GAA) pay an unnamed worker €4,000 after his fixed-term contract ended before its stated end date. The decision was signed on 19 May 2016. The worker said the way his contract ended appeared to be a disciplinary finding and could harm his reputation. The Council said the decision resulted from restructuring, not criticism of his work, and that all money due under the contract had been paid. The Court noted the worker’s concern about how the termination might affect his standing in the community. It found the earlier recommendation fair, reasonable and proportionate. That recommendation included the €4,000 payment and a letter confirming there was nothing untoward in his work.
