The Labour Court recommended that Mondelez Ireland and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union engage to identify ongoing savings of about €500,000 a year. The recommendation was signed on 9 May 2016, following a dispute over restructuring and rationalisation at the site. If the parties did not agree on savings within three weeks, the Court recommended that the union cooperate with the company’s proposals for voluntary staff reductions and discuss how to operate the facility with fewer staff. Unresolved details could be referred back to the Court within six weeks.
