Labour Court recommends three-month pilot at Wyeth laboratory

The Labour Court recommended that Wyeth Nutritionals Ireland Limited and Unite run a three-month pilot to assess integrating an in-line sampling and testing role into the core laboratory process. The recommendation was signed on 6 May 2016. The dispute arose after a temporary microbiology laboratory role continued for more than 12 months. Unite sought a permanent appointment under the parties’ 2004 agreement, while Wyeth argued it had no budget or permanent need for additional staff. The Court said the role appeared to have become a permanent resource under the agreement.
