The Labour Court recommended one extra day of annual leave in 2016 for Donegal Meats workers affected by a factory blockade. The recommendation was dated 15 April 2016. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought compensation for lost pay and earnings during the three days affected in October and November 2014. It said some workers had travelled to work and been sent home, while others lost earnings because supplies were reduced. Donegal Meats said cattle had not been delivered and there was no work available. It said it gave workers as much notice as possible about the short-time working.
