The Labour Court recommended redundancy terms for workers losing their jobs when M.& J. Gleeson & Co. Trading As C & C Gleeson closes its Borrisoleigh facility and transfers production to Clonmel. The recommendation was signed on 31 March 2016. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought enhanced severance terms in return for cooperation with the wind-down and transfer. The company opposed the request, citing terms agreed in October 2015 of 3.5 weeks’ pay per year of service, capped at €72,000. The Court recommended keeping those terms and adding 1.5 weeks’ pay per year of service outside the cap for cooperation with an orderly wind-down, no industrial action and normal performance during the wind-down period.
