The Labour Court recommended that the Department of Education & Skills and all Education and Training Boards in the State engage with the Teachers' Union of Ireland, Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union, and Association of Higher Civil and Public Servants on promotion qualifications and HR policies. The recommendation was signed on 24 March 2016.
The Court recommended technical discussions on Adult Education Officer qualifications and clarification of policies on employing and deploying relatives. It also recommended ending incremental credit for academic achievement, while preserving eligibility for staff who began relevant programmes before February 2015. If agreement on qualifications was not reached within three months, the employer should set the requirements.
