The Labour Court recommended that Tipperary Hostel Ltd pay Patrick Merrigan three weeks’ pay per year of service on top of the statutory redundancy he had already received. The recommendation was signed on 16 March 2016. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the enhanced package was the norm for Job Initiative workers made redundant. Tipperary Hostel Ltd said it had no funds to pay an ex-gratia amount. The Court recommended that the parties jointly seek funding from the funding agency.
