The Labour Court recommended applying a revised compensation proposal for night crew at Tesco Ireland’s Tallaght store, calculated individually from each worker’s recorded attendance. It also recommended an additional payment equivalent to three months’ financial loss for the failure to provide paid breaks. The recommendation was signed on 8 March 2016. Mandate sought 24 months’ compensation, saying workers did not receive their 15-minute paid break under a 2003 agreement until September 2014. Tesco Ireland said it had offered the 15-month arrangement used at other stores. The Court noted local management left the issue unaddressed for months after head office issued a communication in March 2014.
