The Labour Court recommended a staged hourly allowance for security workers on Luas lines in a pay dispute between STT Risk Management Ltd and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The recommendation was dated 25 February 2016. The Court said the union's claim for a higher basic rate had merit. As an interim measure, it recommended an allowance of 40 cents an hour from 1 January 2016, rising to 50 cents from 1 January 2017 and 65 cents from 1 September 2017. The allowances were to be incorporated into basic pay from 1 January 2018. The Court noted that a reclassification process was under way and could provide a basis for pay adjustments linked to enhanced responsibilities. It recommended that negotiations resume in 2018 on a rate to take effect before the next contract tender, without prejudice to further talks after reclassification. The recommendation was conditional on workers cooperating with ongoing change and reclassification.
