The Labour Court recommended new redundancy terms for future job losses at Aurivo Co-Operative Society Ltd after a dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The recommendation was signed on 26 February 2016 and applies only to future redundancies after acceptance. The union sought enhanced terms for about 300 members, while Aurivo said financial difficulties had led it to apply a revised package since 2012. The Court recommended redundancy payments of 4.5 weeks’ pay per year of service, including statutory redundancy, normally capped at two years’ pay. Employees affected by the cap should receive an additional €12,000 for long service. For redundancies arising from the proposed closure of the Achonry Butter Operation, it also recommended a €275-per-year-of-service wind-down bonus on top of the standard terms. The collective recommendation is not binding.
