The Labour Court recommended that Castolin Eutectic Ireland Limited lay out its grievance and disciplinary procedure afresh, following a claim by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union that the procedure, in place since 1974, was outdated. The recommendation was signed on 2 February 2016.
The Court recommended that the main procedure set out the disciplinary steps and sanctions, with the existing offence scale moved to an appendix described as guidelines. It said the fresh layout should resolve current issues with the 1974 document and that other concerns should be discussed between the parties. The company had argued there was no pressing need for change.
