Labour Court rejects Dublin Bus worker’s appeal over injury benefits

The Labour Court rejected a Dublin Bus worker’s appeal over access to occupational injury benefits after an absence following a road traffic accident at work. The recommendation was signed on 2 February 2016. The worker, represented by the National Bus and Rail Union, sought injury benefits and reimbursement of money he said was owed. Dublin Bus said the worker did not meet the scheme’s criteria and had been paid under its sick pay scheme. The Court agreed with the Adjudication Officer, noting that medical evidence did not establish an injury from the accident and that the worker received normal pay until a medical assessment, then sick pay for the rest of his absence.
