The Labour Court recommended that Iarnrod Eireann pay a worker €1,750 in full and final settlement of a dispute over restoring his original pay. The recommendation was signed on 25 January 2016. The worker transferred from Signal Operative to lower-paid Station Operative work on medical grounds. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union (SIPTU), representing the worker, said others in similar circumstances had kept their previous earnings; management said transfers on medical grounds were paid at the rate for the new role. The Court found no evidence that the company had acted contrary to normal practice or staff-deployment policies. It noted difficulty reconciling medical advice from November 2012 and November 2013, and recommended the payment as a good industrial relations gesture.
