Labour Court sets process for Boxmore Plastics pay claim

By Rory Hanlon

Historic decision · Decision date:

Place: no local area assigned from the source.

The Labour Court recommended that Boxmore Plastics Ltd and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union (SIPTU) use their agreed procedures to progress a 6% pay claim over two years. The recommendation was signed on 12 January 2016. The Court said SIPTU should set out the basis of its claim within seven days, with Boxmore Plastics responding in writing within seven days of receiving it. The parties were then to discuss the claim locally, seek Workplace Relations Commission assistance if needed and return to the Labour Court for a definitive recommendation if it remained unresolved. The Court also recommended that Boxmore Plastics and SIPTU review their collective agreement’s dispute procedure and clarify which issues belonged in each process.
