The Labour Court recommended that a worker at Gas Networks Ireland accept the company’s offer of a further €3,000 in full and final settlement of a dispute over compensation for lost guaranteed overtime. Its recommendation was signed on 11 January 2016. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought €32,970 under a formula based on overtime worked over the previous three years. Gas Networks Ireland said it had paid €22,593 based on the worker’s seven guaranteed overtime hours a week. The Court said compensation should reflect those guaranteed hours and did not uphold the union’s claim to include all overtime worked during the three-year period.
