The Labour Court rejected the Irish Nurses' and Midwives' Organisation's claim to restore enhanced on-call rates for three anaesthetic nurses in St Vincent's University Hospital's Liver Transplant Unit. The recommendation was dated 30 September 2015. The union said the increased frequency of on-call work caused serious inconvenience and sought restoration of the rates from September 2014. The hospital said nurses were paid national Theatre Nurse rates and linked the increased frequency to retirements, resignations and leave. The Court recommended that management consider relief cover for leave and the nurses' General Theatre on-call commitments, and review the arrangements in May 2016.
