The Labour Court recommended that the Department of Public Expenditure & Reform and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union engage to implement an agreement on General Operatives’ annual leave. The recommendation was signed on 18 September 2015. The union sought to align General Operatives’ leave with that of Craft Workers. The Department argued the claim was precluded by public service agreements and could lead to similar claims across the public sector. The Court found the Department’s position inconsistent with the agreement recorded in minutes of a meeting on 19 December 2013.
