Labour Court recommends staged pay rates at Meadow Meats

The Labour Court recommended staged standard hourly rates for general operatives at Meadow Meats following a pay claim by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union against Dawn Meats Ireland T/A Meadow Meats. The recommendation, signed on 7 September 2015, set rates of €9.15 from 1 January 2015, €9.65 from 1 January 2016 and €10 from 1 January 2017, with the agreement due to expire on 31 December 2017. The union said rates varied from the minimum wage to €9 an hour and described the work as hard and unpleasant. Dawn Meats said its rates matched competitors and that it was prepared to engage with the union on increases commencing in January 2017.
