The Labour Court recommended that four engineering operatives redeployed in Cork receive their additional annual leave entitlement for 2014, then move to the leave arrangements in their new departments. The recommendation was signed on 1 September 2015. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union argued that assurances made during the transfers should preserve the workers’ previous leave entitlement. Iarnrod Eireann said its 2006 agreement protected only pay rates. The Court said the workers no longer met the conditions for the additional leave, but recommended a one-year exception in the unusual circumstances.
