The Labour Court recommended that the proposals for paid staff parking at University College Dublin be accepted, subject to a change requiring a comprehensive parking management and commuting policy to be developed for consultation if local discussions did not resolve all issues. The recommendation was signed on 19 August 2015.
The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and Unite the Union argued the fee would diminish existing employment terms and offer no benefit. UCD said it formed part of a wider strategy to manage parking demand. The Court said it could not accept that the proposals agreed at conciliation were unreasonable.
