The Labour Court recommended that Dublin Institute of Technology implement an agreed report on Laboratory/Class Aide roles without delay, after finding that the changes would produce considerable savings within a relatively short time. The dispute also involved the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union. The unions said implementation would save money; management said it would increase costs and could not proceed without departmental approval. The Court said figures agreed by both sides supported the unions' position. It made the recommendation on 25 June 2015.
