The Labour Court recommended that a claim for incremental credit for student nurses’ 36-week final-year placement be discussed in scheduled public-sector pay and conditions talks after the HRA expired. The recommendation was signed on 25 May 2015. The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and the Psychiatric Nurswes Association sought credit for the placement when nurses and midwives took up permanent public-service posts. They said students received minimal pay during the placement. The HSE said the terms, including incremental credit, were government decisions that could not be changed locally.
