The Labour Court recommended that Galway County Council and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union (SIPTU) return to it after national discussions resolve issues raised by a circular affecting retained firefighters’ terms and conditions. The recommendation was signed on 28 April 2015. The Court found a sufficient connection between the circular and its implications for staff numbers to proceed cautiously. The dispute had previously been addressed in recommendation LCR20683, which called for further talks on outstanding issues.
