The Labour Court recommended that Shannon Aerospace Ltd reinstate a €259 shortfall in private health insurance contributions for 2014 and 2015, if both sides accepted the recommendation. The payment would be offset against employees’ 2016 insurance costs. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the employment terms provided for a 50% company contribution to VHI Plan B and sought the shortfalls for 2014 and 2015. Shannon Aerospace said its contribution was competitive and that rising insurance costs had to remain sustainable and affordable. The recommendation, signed on 30 March 2015, also called for both sides to hold meaningful discussions on the company’s proposals by the end of June 2015. If they did not reach agreement, the matter could return to the Court.
