The Labour Court recommended that Wexford County Council apply ministerial sanctions for a worker’s appointment as CEO of Wexford Enterprise Board from 19 July 2013 and assimilate him onto council staff. The recommendation was signed on 27 March 2015. The worker, represented by the Irish Municipal Public and Civil Trade Union, had acted as CEO from 2009 to 2014. The union said ministers had sanctioned his appointment in July 2013, but the board had not implemented it. The council argued that he transferred at his substantive Grade 7 and that it lacked power to appoint him permanently as Head of Enterprise.
