The Labour Court recommended ending bank time for Dublin City Council employees from the first week of May 2015. The recommendation, signed on 24 March 2015, also called for discussions on restoring the affected working time and addressing difficulties for a small group of employees. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union sought to retain the hour, which they said had become an established employment condition. The Court said changes in banking services meant there was no longer justification for continuing the practice.
