Labour Court says it cannot process An Post workers’ agreement claim without union

The Labour Court said it could not process a Group of Workers’ claim that An Post breached a collection and delivery work-practice agreement. The recommendation was signed on 19 March 2015. The workers said An Post had not applied the agreement correctly when placing redeployed staff on the seniority list and sought compensation for distress. An Post argued that the dispute concerned interpretation of a collective agreement and should go to its monitoring group. The Court said the agreement was between An Post and the Communications Workers' Union, which was not represented in the case. It said it could not interpret or apply the agreement to the workers without the union, and recommended accordingly; the merits were not decided.
