Labour Court declines to recommend permanent Staff Officer appointment for Sligo County Council worker

The Labour Court did not recommend a worker’s claim for permanent appointment as a Staff Officer at Sligo County Council. The recommendation was signed on 18 March 2015. The worker said she had acted in the higher grade for eight years and should not have to compete for the post. Management argued that the claim was barred by public service agreements and was part of national union discussions. The Court said the claim could not be processed under those agreements because it was cost increasing. It noted that a workforce planning business case proposed retaining the role, but management was awaiting its outcome.
