The Labour Court recommended that University College Dublin honour its 2010 rostered-overtime agreement at the Biomedical Facility until the parties conclude a replacement. SIPTU and Unite were asked to agree a new deal within the facility’s financial constraints, including efficiency measures to reduce labour costs by about €30,000 a year. The recommendation was dated 12 January 2015. The unions said the existing agreement should be honoured in full. UCD said the overtime pattern was no longer financially sustainable. The Court found management had made a fair case that it could no longer afford the arrangement and that the agreement could not be varied piecemeal.
