The Labour Court recommended that Dunnes Stores and Mandate meet within four weeks to try to resolve grievances under their 1996 collective agreement. The recommendation was signed on 14 November 2014. Mandate said Dunnes had refused to engage with it on members’ grievances, including through the Labour Relations Commission and the Labour Court. Dunnes did not attend the hearing, so the court relied on Mandate’s uncontested submissions. The court found the parties should comply with their agreement and said this was the fourth time the matter had come before it. It recommended a meeting, with Labour Relations Commission assistance if needed; unresolved issues could be referred back jointly.
