Labour Court sends Mondelez outsourcing dispute back for talks

The Labour Court recommended further talks between Mondelez Ireland and Unite and SIPTU over a proposal to outsource 17 stores roles. The recommendation was signed on 10 November 2014. The unions said the roles were core work and that the proposal would replace permanent positions with temporary ones. The company said declining demand and competitiveness made outsourcing necessary to focus on chocolate manufacturing and protect its future. The Court said a definitive recommendation on outsourcing would probably be unacceptable to one side or the other. It recommended discussions through the Labour Relations Commission for up to three months, after which the matter could return to the Court if no agreement was reached.
