The Labour Court recommended an extra €15 for cabin appearance staff starting at 4:30 a.m., with a further €15 for a 4:00 a.m. start if introduced. Its recommendation, signed on 10 November 2014, followed a dispute between Aer Lingus and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The Court also recommended an acting-up allowance when staff took on higher-grade duties, sharing job-evaluation criteria with the union and creating a fair internal appeals process. It recommended further talks on career progression for staff unable to use the leave-and-return agreement, while leaving the existing pay arrangement unchanged. Aer Lingus said staff deputised under existing agreements, its positions were paid at appropriate levels and it could not concede a cost-increasing allowance claim.
