The Labour Court recommended that Easons increase the ex gratia element of its compulsory redundancy package to three weeks’ pay per year of service, in addition to statutory entitlements, and raise the total cap to €125,000. The recommendation followed a dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union over the terms for five Head Office positions selected for redundancy. The union argued that an earlier Labour Court recommendation applied, while Easons relied on a later agreement capping the package at €100,000. The Court said the redundancies would take effect on acceptance of its recommendation. It did not recommend recouping garden-leave payments and limited the recommendation to the redundancies in this dispute. It was signed on 29 October 2014.
