The Labour Court recommended two successive 2% pay increases for workers at Abp Nenagh, after considering the union’s 6% claim and the company’s financial position. The recommendation was signed on 7 October 2014. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought a 6% increase retrospective to April 2013, saying workers had received no increases since 2008 and rising living costs had reduced their disposable income. Abp Nenagh cited difficult trading conditions, including declining beef consumption, and said it could not sustain the claim. The Court recommended a 2% increase from 1 July 2014 for 12 months, followed by a further 2% from 1 July 2015 for 12 months.
