The Labour Court recommended urgent discussions between Westdoc Limited and the Irish Nurses' and Midwives' Organisation about practice nurses’ professional indemnity insurance. The recommendation was signed on 21 May 2014. The Court recommended considering whether Westdoc would stop using practice nurses or allow them to continue without independent insurance, deleting the contract clause that required them to provide cover. It also recommended returning the nurses to the payroll while talks took place. The Court did not recommend conceding the union’s claim for retrospective compensation.
