The Labour Court recommended that Laois County Council employees on flexitime be allowed either half a day of flexi-leave each month or one full day every two months. It also recommended a joint review after 12 months, taking account of staffing structures. The dispute with the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union followed the Council’s reduction in flexi-leave. The union said the change was imposed without proper consultation and breached agreements providing for standardised flexitime; the Council said it acted within the agreements to manage services with current staffing levels. The recommendation was signed on 12 May 2014.
