The Labour Court recommended on 12 May 2014 that IFUT’s claim for enhanced redundancy terms be conceded in full. The claim sought three weeks’ pay per year of service, in addition to statutory entitlements, under an agreement the Court said was binding on the University. Nui Galway, represented by IBEC, said its practice was to pay statutory redundancy only and cited the financial impact of enhanced payments. The Court said it had addressed the same issue between the parties in earlier recommendations and found the claim well founded.
