The Labour Court recommended that Allied Irish Bank and the Irish Bank Officials’ Association hold further talks on the bank’s proposed removal of functional cars from Financial Planning Consultants. The recommendation was signed on 9 May 2014. The union said the cars were essential to the role, a contractual entitlement and their removal would cause significant financial loss. The bank said most consultants were now branch-based and a cost-benefit analysis supported the change. The Court recommended Labour Relations Commission assistance if needed; unresolved matters were to return to the Court for a definitive recommendation after talks due to finish by the end of June 2014.
