The Labour Court recommended that HSE South remove records of a disciplinary dispute from the personnel files of 15 clerical staff at its Community Care Centre in Waterford. The recommendation was signed on 23 May 2014. The staff had refused to take on telephonist and switchboard work after the post holder retired. The Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union argued the dispute was collective and sought removal of records from informal counselling meetings. HSE South said the staff were not being asked to take on additional duties and that the work was needed temporarily to maintain an essential service before the post moved to the Regional Hospital site. The Court noted that the dispute had closed and recommended that all records relating to the incident be expunged from the workers’ personnel files immediately.
