The Labour Court recommended staged compensation for 22 catering attendants at HSE South - Waterford Regional Hospital after outsourcing ended their twilight-hours premium. The recommendation was signed on 16 May 2014. Unite argued the premium should continue or compensation should reflect the workers’ actual loss. Management said the premium was for hours no longer worked, basic pay had not changed and the outsourcing followed a reduction in catering staff. The Court found the issue fell under the Public Service Agreement compensation formula and recommended that 50% of the identified loss be paid from 29 April 2014, with the remaining 50% six months later.
