The Labour Court recommended that University College Cork ensure the grades in the union’s claim were not disadvantaged compared with academic and technical staff, as part of a review of its job evaluation scheme. The recommendation was signed on 14 March 2014. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought the return of a grading process suspended in 2008. The University said budget constraints led to the suspension and that it was prepared to review the scheme and had invited the union to participate, but the union had declined. The Court said the union should reconsider taking part in the review.
