The Labour Court recommended that HSE Galway PCCC reassess a worker’s application to the Serious Physical Assault Scheme after she was assaulted by a patient at work. The recommendation was signed on 24 February 2014. The worker, a multi-task attendant represented by SIPTU, sought scheme benefits for unpaid premia and expenses, along with an amended sick leave record. The Court said she had attended Occupational Health Services twice, but no report appeared to have reached management, so it could not make an informed decision on her application. The Court recommended that the reassessment be carried out as quickly as possible.
