The Labour Court recommended an independent review of a workplace dispute involving a worker at Becton Dickinson who alleged bullying, harassment, victimisation and intimidation by a supervisor. The recommendation was signed on 14 February 2014. The worker, represented by TEEU, said he had been overmonitored, contacted while absent from work, spoken to inappropriately and undermined. He challenged the handling and delay of the company’s investigation and sought an independent investigation. Becton Dickinson said it had investigated under its procedures and that a further investigation was unnecessary. The Court recommended that an independent person review the situation with both parties’ cooperation and recommend a way forward. It said it was not recommending a new investigation into the allegations.
