The Labour Court recommended that Screen Producers Ireland and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union jointly redraft a disputed local agreement clause, in a recommendation signed on 8 January 2014. The Court said the clause had been freely negotiated and ratified, but implementation problems had emerged and should be addressed jointly. It recommended that companies give new employees a full or abridged copy of the agreement, facilitate union recruitment and workplace meetings, and not discourage union membership. Production crew should work on the agreement’s rates and conditions, while the union should amend its application form to make joining easier.
